Hours: May 23 and 24th, 12pm-6pm
I’m Valerie Norton, the fused glass artist behind Artful Adornments Studio in Tulsa. I create colorful fused glass art, jewelry, and decorative pieces inspired by nature, gardens, animals and everyday beauty. My studio is set in my backyard, surrounded by chickens, pollinators and vegetable gardens — all of which often inspire my work and give the space a welcoming, creative feel.
The featured medium will be fused glass. I work with layers of colorful sheet glass, frit, stringers, and murrine, which I cut by hand and kiln-fire to become finished works of art. Much of my process involves experimenting with color, texture, pattern, and light to create pieces that feel joyful and organic.
During the event, visitors will be invited into my backyard studio to see finished fused glass pieces on display and get a behind-the-scenes look at where my work is created. I’ll have a class-style work area set up with tools, glass and sample materials so guests can see what students experience during one of my fused glass classes. I also plan to offer brief demonstrations throughout the day showing how glass is cut, layered and prepared for the kiln, giving visitors a closer look at the process behind fused glass.
