What exactly is a "Hidden Creative"?

Hidden creatives are artists who are still gaining visibility. It’s those without a dedicated public studio, major representation, or widespread recognition. If you’re creating incredible work but the world hasn’t discovered you yet, this event is for you.

Other than being an "emerging artist", what qualifications do I need to meet to be a "Hidden Creative"?

If you are 18+ years old and live in these regions of Tulsa, then you qualify. If you're ready to show and sell your work, we're here for you!

I’m already a fixture in Tulsa’s creative community. Can I participate?

Absolutely. This is a perfect opportunity to help amplify other talented artists who don’t yet have visibility.

Apply as a host to open your studio and share space with guest artists. If your space is too small, you can team up with others and rent a shared venue, or find an available free space. Use your platform to help hidden artists get discovered. We all know someone who deserves more recognition, and this is your opportunity to hype them up.

When can people apply to be a hidden creative and/or host?

Registration for 2027 has already begun. The deadline to register will be December 6, 2026 @ 11:59pm.

Where and when will this event take place? How long is the event?

hidden creatives will take April 3-4, 2027, in creative spaces across Tulsa, including home studios, shared artist hubs, and select local businesses. Our goal is to make the event accessible and engaging for both visitors and participating artists throughout the city.

The hours are between 10a-6p. Be sure to pay attention to the creative's hours, as artists are expected to spend at least 4 hours of their day to explore their fellow creative's spaces.

I plan to invite visitors into my home. What measures can we take to ensure everyone feels safe?

We’re making sure that those who plan to participate as attendees pay a small fee to attend these private spaces. They will be given a pass for their digital wallet and a wrist-band so you know random people aren't walking into creative's homes.

We also maintain a WhatsApp group to ensure creatives can communicate with Hidden Creatives staff and between each other if any issues arise.

How do I join, and how much does it cost?

This is a grassroots, crowdfunded event that supports our undervalued creative community. Because of this, we ask the creatives for $20 to be added to the event during early registry. Starting September 1st, the registration fee will be $25. The deadline to apply is December 6, 2026, at 11:59p.

If you host a tour stop but aren't showing artwork, you do not have to pay a fee.

Can I sell my artwork?

Yes! If it’s a physical item, or a future event, like a concert or a workshop, you’re encouraged to sell it. Hosts agree to pass 100% of sales to the artists at the time of the event. Any agreement outside of the tour dates is up to the artist and host.

Can I charge for performances, workshops, or tutorials?

The spirit of Hidden Creatives is about inclusion, accessibility, and community, so live experiences and access to studios must remain free to those who paid for the hidden creatives studio tour.

However, selling physical items (albums, merch, printed zines, custom workbooks, etc.) is highly encouraged. Selling access to future workshops, classes, and concerts is also acceptable. You’re also welcome to collect optional donations, but they cannot be mandatory.

We want people of all financial backgrounds to feel welcome and be able to enjoy everything the event offers.

As a visitor, what will the experience be like? How do I get around?

To gain access to all of the studios, visitors will pay a flat fee of $20. This helps us keep our artist fees low and is also serves as added security for their homes. By purchasing a pass, you're ensuring artists of all backgrounds can participate, and showing you are serious about seeing artists' work in their private spaces.

The tour is self-guided, using our online interactive map and listings (coming this January). We'll also have tour tracks with optional games for attendees who aren't sure which studios they should visit. Yard signage will be given to creatives to clearly mark where their stop is located.

We will also ask artists to document the accessibility of their space (doorway widths, ramps, ASL availability, etc.) to make it easier for people to visit studios that meet their accessibility needs.
