What exactly is a "Hidden Creative"?

Hidden creatives are artists who are still gaining visibility. It’s those without a dedicated public studio, major representation, or widespread recognition. If you’re creating incredible work but the world hasn’t discovered you yet, this event is for you.

I’m already a fixture in Tulsa’s creative community. Can I participate?

Absolutely. This is a perfect opportunity to help amplify other talented artists who don’t yet have visibility.

Apply as a host to open your studio and share space with guest artists. If your space is too small, you can team up with others and rent a shared venue, or find an available free space. Use your platform to help hidden artists get discovered. We all know someone who deserves more recognition, and this is your opportunity to hype them up.

When can people apply to be a hidden creative and/or host?

Registry will begin February 26th and end at 11:59pm on April 26, 2026.

Where and when will this event take place? How long is the event?

hidden creatives will take place in creative spaces across Tulsa, including home studios, shared artist hubs, and select local businesses. Our goal is to make the event accessible and engaging for both visitors and participating artists throughout the city.

To help visitors explore more easily, we plan to divide Tulsa into 5 regions. Each region will be featured for one weekend in its allotted month. Below is the tentative schedule:

East Tulsa (July 2026)
South Tulsa (September 2026)
West Tulsa (November 2026)
Midtown (March 2027)

Each creative and host will be expected to keep their studio, home, or location open to attendees from 12pm-6pm. There can be exceptions if this doesn’t fit the format of the creatives’ body of work.

I plan to invite visitors into my home. What measures can we take to ensure everyone feels safe?

We’re making sure that those who plan to participate as attendees pay a small fee to attend these private spaces. They will be given a form of identification so you know they aren’t randomly walking into your home.

In the future, we hope to get security for participating neighborhoods/regions to ensure everyone feels safe during this city-wide event.

How do I join, and how much does it cost?

This is a grassroots, crowdfunded event that supports our undervalued creative community. Because of this, we ask the creatives for $25 to be added to the event.

If you host an event, your fee is discounted to $15 as a thank you for supporting hidden creatives. Each guest creative you host need to pay $15 as well. For example, if you host with 3 additional creatives (4 total) the price to participate is $60.

Can I sell my artwork?

Yes! If it’s a physical item, or a future event, like a concert or a workshop, you’re encouraged to sell it. Hosts agree to pass 100% of sales to the artists at the time of the event. Any agreement outside of those dates is up to the artist and host.

Can I charge for performances, workshops, or tutorials?

The spirit of Hidden Creatives is about inclusion, accessibility, and community, so live experiences and access to studios must remain free to those who paid for the hidden creatives studio tour.

However, selling physical items (albums, merch, printed zines, custom workbooks, etc.) is highly encouraged. Selling access to future workshops, classes, and concerts is also acceptable. You’re also welcome to collect optional donations, but they cannot be mandatory.

We want people of all financial backgrounds to feel welcome and able to enjoy everything the event offers.

As a visitor, what will the experience be like? How do I get around?

To gain access to all of the studios, visitors will pay a flat fee of $15. This is to ensure security by showing that the people visiting private spaces are serious about the event.

The tour is self-guided, using our online interactive map and listings. Yard signage will be given to creatives to make each stop on the tour clear to those visiting.

We will also ask artists to document the accessibility of their space (doorway widths, ramps, ASL availability, etc.)
